Hi there, I’m Liza (like Minelli) and I’m glad you’re here!
It is incredibly hard to ask for help so first try to give yourself credit for being on this site looking at our profiles!

I am passionate about helping clients understand and accept every part of themselves and believe that improved self-awareness and self-compassion is a factor toward wellbeing in other areas of life. My primary focus is on helping clients who are struggling with identity and self-esteem, ADHD and impulsivity, and self-destructive behaviors (binge eating, substance abuse, self-harm, etc). I also have experience working with religious trauma and the effects of bigotry.. Working with clients to regain a focus on the present instead of dwelling on the past or worrying about the future by encouraging mindfulness and value-based living. I have experience working with individuals, families, couples, and groups suffering from a wide variety of common issues like anxiety, depression, and relationship issues.

I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental space that allows clients to find and be their authentic selves. We are going to talk about uncomfortable stuff so I want you to at least be comfortable with me. Along with traditional therapies including CBT, ACT, DBT and Gestalt, I enjoy bringing art, music, other media, and even laughter into session and will often recommend books, movies, art projects, yoga poses, etc as therapy homework.

I understand how challenging it can be to find secular care in Tennessee and many clients have sought me out because religion/spirituality are not part of my approach unless you want it to be. I am happy to help clients explore and understand their faith and beliefs as part of treatment but I work hard to encourage you to direct the conversation so it is respectful of your unique spiritual journey (with or without religious dogma).
