I knew I wanted to become a therapist thanks to an incredible experience in high school. I was in therapy for an eating disorder, and I would say it was my first "aha" moment. I have always been a modern dancer, since the age of 7, and my worlds have intertwined in magical ways since I began my journey into adulthood. Now, in my late 40's, I feel that all of my paths are merging, and I am happy to be back in the state of Oklahoma with my family, working in private practice, attempting to comfort and empower marginalized individuals in this red state. After undergrad at SMU in Dallas, I moved to San Diego for graduate school, and once licensed, I worked primarily w/teens in recovery centers and group homes. I was dancing professionally and ended up teaching a master class at a new performing arts high school I just knew I had to return to the classroom and become a teacher, and I ended up directing the dance program for 15 years. I was still seeing a few clients in private practice. When Covid hit in 2020, we were completely virtual in CA. I got a puppy, and when she and I awoke to a white New Year's Day in OK in 2021, I knew the stars had finally aligned and it was time for me to move home. I didn't want to leave my sweet Echo Violet at home, alone, and I was ready to be physically closer to family. It was a difficult decision, as I had created a pretty incredible life in San Diego. I have absolutely no regrets and am loving my work as a therapist, my simpler life, and my quality time w/loved ones.
